Setting up Telegram alerts
How to connect Telegram to AlgoThink: find your chat id, save it on the Account page, and choose what gets delivered.
Telegram alerts push new suggestions, fills, stop and target hits, and anything that needs your attention straight to your phone — so you don't have to sit watching the Dashboard.
Connecting Telegram
- Open the platform's Telegram bot and press Start. (Pressing Start is what allows the bot to message you at all — Telegram blocks bots from messaging people who haven't opted in.)
- Find your chat id: message
@userinfoboton Telegram and it replies with your id. - In AlgoThink, open Account → API keys &
notifications, paste it into the
Telegram chat idrow and press Save. - Press Send Telegram test message to confirm it works end to end.
Choosing what gets delivered
Below the keys table, Deliver reports by has checkboxes for Telegram and Email, both on by default. These control your daily, weekly and monthly performance reports; the reports also always appear on the Reports page regardless.
What you'll receive
- New trade suggestions.
- Order fills and failures.
- Stop-loss and take-profit hits, and liquidations.
- Every autonomous open and close, if autonomous mode is on.
- Performance reports, if you've left Telegram delivery on.
What to consider
- Alerts are notifications, not a control channel. You can't approve or reject a trade from Telegram — that stays in the app, deliberately.
- Volume scales with activity. If you're running several strategies autonomously, expect a steady stream. Turning report delivery off but keeping trade alerts on is a common middle ground.
- Your chat id is stored encrypted, like every other credential, and you can clear it at any time to stop delivery.
