Is it safe?
We can place your orders. We can't touch your money.
Here's exactly what that means, and what we deliberately don't claim.
Non-custodial, by construction
Your funds never leave the exchange account you already trust. AlgoThink trades through API keys you create yourself, and the setup only asks for trade permission — never withdrawal. Even in the worst case, an attacker who somehow obtained your key could place unwanted trades; they could not move your funds out. You can revoke a key on your exchange, or remove it from your AlgoThink account, at any moment. Our step-by-step guides walk through creating a trade-only key on each supported exchange.
Keys are encrypted at rest
Every exchange and AI key you store is encrypted before it touches the database. It's only ever decrypted to make the specific call you authorized it for — placing an order you approved, or requesting the AI review you asked for.
Live trading needs two separate switches
Going from paper to live isn't one click. It requires the platform operator to have live trading armed at the infrastructure level and you to arm it from your own account. Without both, any order the system would have placed is only logged, never sent to the exchange.
Two-factor authentication before live
Live trading requires 2FA to be enrolled on your account first. Disabling 2FA disarms live trading again — the two are tied together deliberately.
Every strategy is validated before you'd ever rely on it
Each strategy runs through walk-forward validation — rolling, out-of-sample testing under realistic trading costs, not a single backtest dressed up to look good. Your dashboard shows each strategy's live validation status so you always know exactly what you're trusting and why, and you can restrict autonomous mode to validated strategies only. On top of that, arming live trading runs a fee check every time: your exchange account's real taker fee is verified against what validation assumed, and arming is refused if your actual costs are higher than what was tested.
Risk, stated plainly
AlgoThink doesn't promise profits — no legitimate trading tool can. Live trading can still lose money, including your entire balance, through leverage, liquidation, exchange outages, or plain bad markets, regardless of how many safeguards are in place. That's why paper trading is free and unlimited, and why every risk limit is yours to set. Read the full terms & risk disclaimer before enabling anything with real funds.
